Timber extension – both outside and in. Use of timber is the right move – even though the construction build up is more complex potentially than a cavity wall – it can offer thermal efficiencies and breathability.
Look at the timber framed Heritage buildings….the shape may have changed but the beauty is retained.
This extension was an open plan addition to a dwelling where the owners required more family space and a kitchen that needed a better view.
The windows are box seats and great places to sit, read, and gaze over the garden. The roof is sedum (grass) so warm and efficient. The garage adjacent has room for several cars and a first floor store – or eventually accommodation for guests or teens. Planning was just about to be applied for – but client circumstances mean we are on hold. However, we hope that the opportunity presents itself to continue with the scheme in the future.
