Initially submitted in December 2021, this scheme has had minor – and we mean minor changes throughout an incredibly lengthy determination period. We had more changes to the case officer than the scheme…not ideal in a climate where we are picking up after lockdown, and keen to progress development and specifically provide new homes… The downside of the scheme is that, in the 11th hour the most recent case officer decided that converting the Dutch barn was inappropriate! The Dutch barn is a redundant agricultural building, on the site and now isolated from the brick barns which gained approval for conversion. Specifically, the case officer didn’t believe in Dutch barn conversions…a personal view I would think – when it demonstrated structurally that it could withstand conversion, loading etc. Oddly the previous 3 case officers did support its conversion. So a bittersweet approval…this Dutch barn will reappear…..
