The key issues with a Victorian school house would for me be high & large windows, vaulted ceilings, an irregular floor plan – geared obviously towards group activities, be that a hall or classroom. Turning the building into a habitable dwelling as well as being article 4 direction (heritage value) is a task. Add to this the fact that the property has been a dwelling for some time – and the brief was interesting. Shortly to be submitted for planning approval, the finished scheme is we think in a positive place. For now here is the initial internal study… aiming to bring some order and flow to the layout.
